It feels good to be writing again. Who cares if i have a "stats test" or will have "no sleep"...i mean, these things aren't really important, are they? I think not. Entertaining myself is all that really matters, right? I thought so....now that we are all on the same page, let's see if i can fix that.
I was thinking today about writing...and it occured to me that everyone, including myself, always says that comedy is 90% timing...and i still hold to this. But it brings up the interesting point, how much harder does that make humor writing? Timing in a book?...i mean, come on....what about slow readers? Do they ever really get the jokes? So my point is that i think there are two completely different types of humor here: writing humor and talking humor. I think people don't quite grasp this concept all the time, particularly television networks. Every now and then you get a person that is genuinely funny, (i.e. sienfeld, cosby, homer simpson, wishbone) and their real life humor translates over to television without any problems. But then you get people that are funny in reality, and they can't write funny. Consequently, we end up with a lot of junk on television that just isn't funny. And whatever happened to the Ninja Turtles? I drew one in the dirt last week and one of my kids asked me what it was...(it was Raphael), and he was holding a sai, and they didn't know what that was either...so i drew a bo ( a big stick, donatello's weapon of choice), and they still didnt get it. I almost cried. I mean, when the evil Shredder attacks, these turtle boys don't cut him no slack...it was in the song..."What song," they say...and i cry some more. so now, there's a big puddle of tears instead of Raphael or Donatello...good thing they're amphibians.
