My Apologies....No, Really, It Is...

So, my intramural football team lost yet again tonight. This one hurt because we were actually winning 6-0. But alas, it was not meant to be. As with every game, I blame myself. As I was leaving, I made the comment that I'd remember this one for at least a week, but probably longer. And then I started thinking. I really hold on to this stuff way too long. So, here is my list of apologies for all the times I feel I've hurt my team, in no particular order, but I will start with tonight.

1. Recognizing the seam was open and failing to correct it before the other team exploited it. Touchdown.
2. Dropping the pitch that would have made it 7-0. Final score, 7-6.
3. Dropping an easy pic on 1st down, while down only 7-0 early. The drive went on for a TD and a blowout.
4. Dropping a batted pass that would have converted on 4th down.
5. Dribbling to the pitcher with bases loaded and 1 out.
6. Letting some guy out jump me for a touchdown.

Back to SHC we go.

1. Needing 1 service point to win sand volleyball, and I hit it out of bounds.
2. For every time (twice) that I failed to take the pitch-man, and every other time (thrice) that I didn't force my man inside.
3. Every interception I've ever thrown (two).
4. The time I dropped a TD pass in the back of the endzone. (sorry, Pitek.)
5. The time I dropped a wide open dump pass that would have gone for a TD. (Yes, the play didn't count bc of a penalty anyways, but it still hurts.)
6. Freshman year when I anticipated the pitch and didn't come up with it.
7. When I didn't score a goal on Jeff bc i can't kick with my left foot.
8. Watching my powder-puff team get destroyed despite my best efforts. (I'm still proud of them. They learned a zone in like 1/2 an hour.) (I even broke a clipboard, Spurrier style.)
9. For not scoring a TD on the hook and ladder despite it working to perfection.
10. For missing a tackle senior year that let the QB scramble 40 yards for a TD.
11. The time I mistimed my jump on Katie Van's bump and totally missed the ball.

We go further back in time now.

1. For misreading the line drive to left and making my first step in.
2. For everytime I struck out to end a game.
3. For tripping out of the box in the last inning w/ two outs and the tying runner on third, slowing me down just enough that the 3rd baseman bobbled it and the throw just beat me to first. We lose.
4. For passing the ball back beyond half-court to our point guard late in a close game. I think we may have lost that one too.
5. Though not a team sport, shooting a 210 in golf was a bit rough. (Funny now, but rough at the time.)

Hmm. Well, that's probably good for now. I know this was neither exciting nor creative nor funny nor a life update, but it does go to prove a point. I don't forget.
