I'm Really Done?....Well That Only Cost Me My Health, My Sanity, My Tan, and $100,000

Yes, I am finally finished! Law school has reached its dramatic conclusion. I turned in my last final two days ago, and I turned in the keys to my two offices yesterday. All that remains now is to walk across the stage on Saturday, stand up and wave on Sunday, and bind my soul to the Wisconsin Board of Bar Examiners on Monday. That's not so bad. My folks are coming up with my sisters on Friday and headin' back out on Tuesday, which if you do the math, leaves Mags and I one day to prepare for Italy. Hey, we can do it. Have a little faith. I can say such cool things already like "L'uomo hai cappelli lunghi" and . . . well . . . I've got that down at least. We're excited about the trip but pretty darn nervous too. We're flying a Spanish airline, so we can't even read our tickets. We also aren't doing a tour. We're plopping down in Rome and doing some serious wandering. It should be fun.

On a different note, I'm now a published author twice over. I wrote an article for the Marquette Sports Law Review and one for the regular Marquette Law Review. I will be distributing signed copies May 9-22 in Milwaukee and then commencing my world tour, with stops in Madrid on May 22, Rome May 23-24, Madrid again on May 25, and culminating with an appearance in Chicago for my American homecoming. I hope to see you all there.

I played Rock Band for the first time last weekend, and it's freakin' awesome. Really, though, I prefer guitar hero, except the Rock Band drums are amazing. If I could combine the game play of the PS2 GH III with the drums from Rock Band, it would be the ultimate game. But, alas, i cannot. Such is life.

I also feel obligated to mention that I don't have to take the bar. So, for all of my fellow 3Ls not located in Wisconsin, you have fun with that. I'll let you know what it feels like to be an attorney. Of course, you can then tell me what it feels like to be outside comfortably in short-sleeves. I like to think that spring will eventually arrive in Wisconsin, but part of me is still expecting some snow.

Mags and I get the bulk of our remaining furniture today. The dining room table, one bench, two chairs, a pantry, and a small drawer-thingy all arrive today. We're still waiting on one bench, but there's only two of us, so we figured we could manage. We're like real people now, with furniture and cars and stuff. It's kinda weird.

I know most of you have been reading this wondering when I was gonna get to sports, and I'm sorry to have kept you waiting so long. I promise not to say anything about Auburn bc that's what my other blog is for. However, I did conclude my intramural career on Tuesday afternoon. I gotta say that this season was disappointing in all three sports. The school cancelled playoffs because it snowed well past spring break. We ran out of time. However, we still had only one loss in sand volleyball and two in softball. We were actually pounding everyone in softball until one of our guys separated his shoulder playing football. He had the bat we used (Black Magic), and our offense went seriously south. We may as well have been using broomsticks. Still, we kept it respectable. My season was pretty average offensively speaking, but I seemed to be peaking just in time for the non-existent playoffs. In our Tuesday double-header, I went something like 5-7. I even legged out an infield single where the bat hit the ground before making contact with the ball. I just can't say no to low pitches. Still, it was fun and a good time was had by all. As for our football season, we nearly almost didn't have the mercy rule applied in one of our games. It was an ugly season. I had a good time though. I switched this season from corner to rusher, which (as much as I love playing corner) really does play to my strengths. I miss chasing people. Even though I played three years of intramurals here, I consider the real end to my competitive intramural career to have come at SHC. The intramural department here was a joke. But that's a rant for another day.

Well, I probably need to get going on my daily chores. I got a lot of stuff to do today. Maybe now that school's over I'll get back to creative writing. Who knows? For now, life updates will have to suffice.
